I've been brewing with a Grainfather G30 system for about four years now, and one thing that has always stood
out to me as a design flaw is the lack of protection on the side ventilation fins against liquid ingress.
Quite a few times, because I'm a clumsy oaf, I've spilled Wort over the control box, and each time I've wondered how I haven't damaged the electronics. I feel like it's only a matter of time before it happens. |
I asked my son, who is an Industrial Product Designer, if he could create a couple of models for me that I could print on my resin 3D printer. I exported them from Chitubox and waited a few hours for the print to complete. |
They printed out really nicely, I used Black Anycubic Water Washable resin for this. |
I used a little PVA glue to hold them in place, then ran a bead of UV resin around the seam and cured it with the UV pen. |
I'm pretty pleased with how this turned out, it should guard against accidental splashes of Wort or Water. I do not think it will stop any heat from dissipating from the unit, so no worries on that count. |
